Exploring: Bridal Veil Falls

The wife and I went for a small hike up to Bridal Veil Falls a bit ago. While I’ve been there a few times over the years, my wife, recently transplanted from Alberta, had never been.

It was a decent walk up (nice reminder of how totally out of shape I’m in) and amazingly close up views of the falls once we reached the base. Was about a 15 minute hike on a moderate grade. Some stumps and spring wash-out littered the trails which added to the natural appeal.

Do they still have signs that say not to go up to the base of the falls?

I went up to the base, found a nice stump and ate my subway sandwhich while tourists looked at me in confusion. :)

Yeah, once you hike up to the base, they’ve sort of made a loosely fenced off area where law-abiding tourists typically hold up. We pushed past that and climbed up to the actual base of the falls. There was a nice mist and far better vantage point.

I suppose due to washout in the spring that they’ve receded the lookout point now for safety or rebuilding prevention. We did notice once we climbed up that some old posts and concrete footings still remained from where the “base” lookout used to me.
